L storia di Ciao Lighters  

HISTORY

Ciao was founded in early 2000 from the genius and intuition of ITA - International Tobacco Agency. The idea was to produce an Italian brand of lighters that acted as a viable alternative to the numerous foreign brands present on the market. The new millennium thus marked the launch of these new lighters, which were launched nationally and throughout Europe in the same year.

 

The first few years were dedicated to promoting and introducing the completely innovative brand on the market. The turning point came in 2004/2005 when the brand decided to create the graphics of the lighters domestically, making the brand even more Italian. In 2007, the introduction of the new safety regulations confirmed the brand’s ability to be ahead of the competition. In fact, the Ciao lighters have been equipped with the child-resistant system for two years now.


2008 and 2009 were crucial years for the brand as it entered into important licensing agreements with major brands such as Dylan Dog, the Pink Panther, Milo Manara, Corto Maltese, the Ants of Fabio Vettori and Skelanimal. Together with the licensing agreements, Ciao produced its first limited edition lighters, which soon became collector items.


Meanwhile, the brand clearly defined its philosophy and guidelines and Ciao was finally ready to go beyond the national boundaries. In 2009/2010 the brand was launched abroad, and it established relationships with various external agencies that handled some lines of the brand, which had now become recognised as a quality and innovative brand with stunning and trendy graphics. These strengths still distinguish the brand today.
